Exactly right. Living in the city detaches the family from the land - and after two or three generations things get turned upside down.
Carbon dioxide, for example, becomes a toxic substance. Work is thought of as punishment to be avoided. Everything is supposed to be play, play, play.
It's a defense mechanism against normal human insecurities.
