The euphoria that accompanied Ukraine’s unforeseen early victories against bumbling Russian troops is fading as Moscow adapts its tactics, recovers its stride and asserts its overwhelming firepower against heavily outgunned Ukrainian forces.
Around 200 Ukrainian soldiers are now being killed every day, up from 100 late last month, an aide to President Volodymyr Zelensky told the BBC on Friday — meaning that as many as 1,000 Ukrainians are being taken out of the fight every day, including those who are injured.
But the odds against the Ukrainians are starting to look overwhelming, said Danylyuk, the government adviser.
“The Russians are using long-range artillery against us, often without any response, because we don’t have the means,” he said.
Ukraine has now almost completely run out of ammunition for the Soviet-era weapons systems that were the mainstay of its arsenal, and the Eastern European countries that maintained the same systems have run out of surplus supplies to donate, Danylyuk said.
Russia is firing as many as 50,000 artillery rounds a day into Ukrainian positions, and the Ukrainians can hit back with only around 5,000 to 6,000 rounds a day, he said. The United States has committed to deliver 220,000 rounds of ammunition — enough to match Russian firepower for around four days.
The majority of the American M777 howitzer artillery guns that U.S. officials said would enable Ukraine to match Russian firepower are now in use on the battlefield, according to the Pentagon. Yet the Russians continue to advance.
“I’d be shocked if the Russians are sustaining casualties anywhere close to what the Ukrainians are right now,” Alperovitch said.

Reality is starting to overtake the Marxist State Media propaganda BS.
If they’re in a good mood, the Russians might sell us back all of the American munitions they capture, so that we can rebuild our inventories quicker than having to wait for Drag Queen shows or whatever requirements we now pose on Defense Contractors, before allowing production to begin.
Of course we’ll have to promise not to be so careless with our hardware next time.
Tick tock on petrodollar/reserve currency. It’s almost over.
How I wish the simpletons who have imbibed the MSM/NATO/Brandon government narrative understood that and what it means. I believe the dollar is going to die sooner rather than later, and the inevitable result will be civil unrest here. The consequences of a stolen election....
Still staring at Putin posters? The cult is out today. lol
“Before this is over the US govt. is going to get kicked out of Europe by popular demand. Mark it down.”
Actually, one of my sources is saying the same, but it will be based on the Russians demanding the end of NATO, in response to keeping them (the Europeans) from freezing to death this winter, and possibly starving too.
It appears Biden and Germany may be slow walking supplies. But who knows for sure.
Aid to Ukraine has just prolonged the agony, delayed the inevitable and enriched the corrupt.

Well said, however you missed 10 percent to senile Joe and his bunch- not to mention the notoriously corrupted Ukie politicians….BUT already documented is the Infamous Ukie mafia and front line Ukie soldiers selling the NLaws and Javelins for $30 + apiece.
Do note two facts:
1) There is a reason the Ukies were never admitted to the EU or NATO (since their Independence in 1991)- corruption national poverty levels.
2) In the International finance world- the Ukie banking system is noted as number one in money laundering, trafficking, etc…corruption.
Ever wonder why the $40 billion in aid that was passed had absolutely no exchange verification, custody records, put into place?
Holy crap! It blew up real good!
By this fall it’s possible that many people will be fleeing North Africa and the Middle East in search of food and they’ll be headed straight to Europe. IMO
We did the same when we broke up the Lisbon Agreement in 1992:
And then in 1999 when the odious Madcow Albright whipped out Annex B after the FR Yugoslavia delegation was about to sign off on the Rambouillet Agreement (Kosovo):
https://www.jstor.org/stable/23607665
No sovereign nation could possibly agree to such a thing. As you can read, Annex B called for NATO military occupation of the entire FRY. For some reason, we no longer cared about Annex B after bombing the daylights out of Serbia for 78 days, as the Kumanovo Agreement was very much the same as Rambouillet, but minus that pesky Annex B.
I’m not convinced the Europeans will want to kick us out, although this time around, they’re paying quite the price for our foolish pigheadedness. Given that the parties to Minsk were OSCE (US is a member), Russia, Ukraine, the DNR and LNR, and its brokers were Germany and France, who are European Leaders going to blame for Ukraine’s refusal to implement? The answer is obvious: Russia, of course.
Yes, the US could have insisted Ukraine honor the agreement they signed rather than the opposite. But that won’t play well in the press, as Germany, France and other members of OSCE could have pressed Ukraine themselves — not that it would do any good, as no peace agreement sticks unless the Americans want it to (see Lisbon and Rambouillet). Nevertheless, European leaders don’t like being seen as weak and acquiescing to American power and influence, so only Russia will be blamed.
The Russians would be relieved of paying transit fees to Ukraine and the Germans would be forced to open the Nord Stream 2 pipeline. BRILLIANT!
NS 2 is gas, not oil.
But I really like this idea. Russia will be selling less oil (delivered by tracks, perhaps), and but at 10x the price.
Putin will be fine.
And Germany always has an option to sue Ukraine.
Blow up that pipeline, Mr. Putin!
While the ammo dump attacks may still be real, the photo was a misattribution, sorry for that
At a minimum, NATO will, de facto, cease to exist as an instrument of US policy. That would be a good thing. The Brandon regime has taken the world perilously close to WWIII. I’m sure Germany, France, and Italy are privately telling our government that the travesty in Ukraine needs to end.
There is a pattern and it is irrefutable.
The Blinken administration is twisting arms to keep Germany, France politicians in line.
Once people start getting hungry and cold they are going to turn the heat up on politicians and I think fingers will be pointed at the US. Europe will break with the US, that of course is just my opinion.
“Russians might sell us back all of the American munitions they capture, so that we can rebuild our inventories quicker. Of course we’ll have to promise not to be so careless with our hardware next time”
This from TheDenzeinReport, Jacob Denzein
The flares are intended to confuse the infrared homing on Uncle Sam’s Stinger missiles, which have been “donated” (with a time-delay) to ISIS or other as-yet-unknown international terrorists, using the Ukraine as middle-man. Of course, the middle-man will cook most of them off himself, but you may wish to think twice about flying anything but El Al and Arkia from now on. (Israel’s main airlines are believed to load “countermeasures” on their planes.)
“The myth that America has infinite amounts of stuff to give away needs to end.”
As we’re learning now, that’s especially true with military hardware. We believe in “Just in Time” production because it works with VCRs, and saves money on inventory costs.
But in wars of attrition, ‘Just in Time’ doesn’t work so well. Russia, on the other hand, didn’t destroy their huge stockpiles of old munitions, apparently, and are now putting a bit of them to good use in Ukraine.
“The attack on Ukraine is just the opening act of an all out attack by Russia and China to take advantage of the weakness of Biden and the democrats.”
Sure would have been nice if we didn’t give Russia 8 YEARS OF REASONS to get involved in Ukraine. Sustaining the US as a credible power while electing dingbats like Clinton, Obama, and Biden (along with Republican Neocons at lower levels) pretty much sealed things.
Caught with your pants down, Mount Atos?
Gonzalo Lira thinks that the Russians will hold the Donbass and ethic Russian areas in the south to Transnistria. That leaves a Ukrainian rump state of indeterminate size. Why? Because the Poles have seen the writing on the wall regarding the Zelensky regime and think they can regain Galicia. Whichever scenario plays out, the rump state will be poor, demographically over-the-hill, corrupt, essentially demilitarized, and neutral. If the Poles get Galicia, they will probably regret it.
My big thing is, will Germany switch sides?
Russia has a lot to give away that could be of interest to the Germans. America? Not so much.
