Building designer was an idiot. They are called master keys ... what a concept.

So there was no window in the door. I find that hard to believe. They are trying to play us for fools.

and this Arredondo guy, might have a new vacation place on the gulf coast... or a nice offshore account somewhere, because, he is (IMO) classically the type that might have helped with promotion of some leftist agenda. I haven’t seen anything to indicate that he cared one whit about the kids.

By law there must be a Knox Box on the outside of the school containing a set of master pass keys for the building. The Knox Box is accessible with a universal key that Public Safety workers have. These people are bullshitting and trying to take us for fools.

He got in through unlocked doors.

It’s also been established that he worked nearly a year full time (quit going to school) to save up the money for the guns. It’s pretty obvious that he was planning this for some time and with serious focus.

The main cause of serial unfortunate events is human incompetence, especially when it involves public employees.

Schools have these things called windows

The government and media people talking about the police failure in Uvalde seem to forget that the classrooms in the school all appear to have windows, and they are at a height where you can walk up to them.

The last time I looked, either a 9mm or a 5.56 round goes right through a standard glass window.

Under any fire code in the nation there has to be more than one method of egress from a classroom. The windows may be that egress for the Uvalde school, and they certainly could have been used by police to shoot the murderer.

From the pictures of the adults evacuating kids through the other classrooms, they appear to be adult chest height.

And they already stated that the blinds were down in the classrooms with the shooter so they couldn’t target him.

Also, which of these officers is a qualified sniper?

Often they’re the in-glass-wire type to prevent break-ins and if they open at all, it is deliberately sized so someone can’t get in.

Someone raised the question of which of these classrooms had windows. Believe that is a question that needs to be answered.

There can be classrooms without windows.

There can be classrooms without windows facing the outside.

Could there be a room on the inside without windows facing the outside?

Perhaps they should have run down to the High School and got some 18 year old to open the door for them.

What crap. The shooter had no problem getting through one door after another, AFTER firing his gun for 12 minutes just outside the school.

That wasn’t enough time for the doors to be locked to keep him out of the school AND the classroom? Is it a school for the deaf with all deaf teachers?

“It’s mind-boggling to someone with more than 25 years in law enforcement that you’re not entering that room for over an hour,” Lavarello told the paper. “The door opening outward is not a valid excuse for no penetration into that classroom. Saying ‘we can’t get a key’ is foolishness.’”

Over an hour? It's an extreme insult.

It's becoming obvious this guy, like that Coward of Broward County (Florida) Secured the outside of the buildings and delayed rescue as long as possible.

They had a shooter drill just a few weeks before. They should have figured ways to get into locked classrooms. You’d think someone would have suggested labeling the keys at that time. And maybe having a spare set easily available in case of emergencies.
Was the whole drill just about looking tough in their gear?

Do not build the entry points in such a manner as to prevent a “break-in”. On example of a bad design was to create a wall composed of windows too narrow for the average adult to get through .... 9” wide if memory serves. The design was for a span of brick wall, a 9 in window another span of brick, repeated up to the entrance door.

It would be better to have break resistant glass (but still breakable). This would allow emergency personnel a means of still getting in a whole lot faster than the above.
