The Biden administration will drop pre-departure COVID-19 international air testing requirements effective Sunday (Jun 12) at 12.01am after heavy lobbying from airlines and the travel industry.
The Biden administration will announce on Friday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will no longer require pre-departure COVID-19 testing for travellers coming to the United States after it determined based on the science and data that this requirement is no longer necessary.
The CDC will do a reassessment of this decision in 90 days, the official said.

As somebody who lives overseas and needs to come back to the States periodically to visit family, that is superb news.
Unlike in the states, I have to pay between 50 and 120 USD for a PCR test here, at least if I want to get the results back in a timely fashion.
Thailand dropped the requirement for pre-flight testing a while back. Europe dropped the requirement a few months earlier.
I’m glad the Pedo Joe regime decided to join the rest of the world (though I’m relatively confident that before the midterms, they’ll start generating a panic with mandatory testing for the homo-pox a/k/a the monkey pox).
Lucky you. My wife’s family is in Canada. We (and they) don’t get shots. As long as Trudeau is in charge, we will never see them.
I wonder how long Australia and Canada will keep up their ban on vax-free visitors, forever?
I know plenty of Aussies who are here in Thailand as refugees. Not sure why anybody would want to visit the Southern Hemisphere’s North Korea anymore.
It was ridiculous. A plane could take off from the US and land in the US and there was no testing. A plane could take off from the US and land anywhere else in the world and there was no testing. A plane could take off anywhere in the world and land anywhere in the world but the US and there would be no testing. But if the plane took off outside the US and it landed in the US you needed to be tested.
People walked through very crowded airports both in the US and outside. Obviously the test would only pick up people who did not show positive 24 hours before. But hundreds who were tested and those who weren’t mixed in huge groups at the airport customs and ticketing and baggage claim and in the planes. They waited, they queued, they talked. And they passed COVID to each other. But only those who were going to the US and passed a test the day before were able to get on a plane to the US while mixing with thousands of people who never took a test.
What a pile of crap. My plane was filled with people coughing all the way home. And many from my party got COVID the days after flying. And some got it in the US and traveled abroad, getting a positive test the day they arrived in another county. These tests stopped nothing in or outside of the US.
Shots do nothing. Omicron is immune to the shots. And Omicron is also a cold like virus. All the shots in the world have no effect on Omicron. And it would not matter if they did. Omicron is not harmful to almost all people.
If only they’d drop it to enter places like Taiwan, etc.
(from what little I saw a couple days ago)
Based on “the science” they would have ended this futile testing months ago like most every other country.
While they are on a role, perhaps they can stop pushing a 2.5 year old vaccine that no longer works to prevent covid.
WHAT! Then why why WHY do all employees of businesses that are contracted with the federal gov’t required to get COVID vaccine??? Someone please explain that one to me.
I think the only country in SE Asia that still has restrictions for vaxxed travelers is Taiwan. (Thailand does require unvaxxed to take a ATK test either before they leave or after they arrive, but that’s it). If you are unvaxxed, unless you want to come here, you may need to wait a while longer.
Why are contractors required to get jabbed? Control, pure and simple.
From what I read Philippines too. I had just read it 2 days ago but perhaps even the multiple sites are not current.
Yeah, the Philippines are ASEAN members, so I was including them in with SE Asia.
Why bother testing at all since our borders are being flooded with illegals by the hundreds daily - bringing with them their 3rd world diseases, superstitions, mental and health issues to flood our medical system.
This happened.. check passenger flights from in around wuhan in 2019.
Why stop testing? Isn’t this the deadliest disease in the history of all humanity? Will they at least require a booster shot mid-flight?
+1
Glad to hear it.👍
By dropping the testing, doesn’t that render a serious kill shot to Nidens DOJ appeal of the mask mandate ruling for air travel? It would seems to be this is a straight forward argument now. The government no longer requires testing. So how can it require so called mandatory prevention measures?
