Well, we have Iroquois County in Illinois. I remember reading LaSalle’s account of approaching an Illini village. A lot of the people appeared to be standing but were not moving. When they got to the village, LaSalle’s party found that all of the people had been massacred and mutilated and those who appeared to be standing had been tied to posts and burned. It was the work of the Iroquois, so Illinois might want to consider re-naming that county.

Exactly. I grew up in Ithaca, NY and we learned a lot about the Iroquois Confederacy of tribes. It wasn’t until much later Iearned about the brutality and slaughter.
