Some Republicans who backed independent Jan. 6 commission face primary consequences

Thirty-five House Republicans voted in May 2021 in favor of legislation that would have created an independent commission to investigate the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol.

While that bill never advanced, due to filibusters from Republicans in the Senate, the shadow of the vote has hung over various primary races as the conservative base reconsiders — and in some cases turns against — the GOP lawmakers who bucked the line in a party largely defined by loyalty to former President Donald Trump.

They should be made to walk the plank.

ALL Bush League Republicans must go.

Unfortunately some people love their Assistant Democrats.

I agree and many great victories have occurred. We need to keep up the pressure.

Praying hard that Cheney loses her primary; especially after seeing her ‘performance’ (that’s exactly what it was) last night. Made my blood boil.

Several of the ones who were renominated were running unopposed.

We really should have found good MAGA candidates to challenge them. We’ll need to make a point to do that for 2024.

She will. The polling numbers are devastating against her. and Harriet Hagemann is a rockstar.

I called Don Bacon in Ne and warned him I won't vote for him in the primary if he voted with the dems. He apparently didn't care.

I got an odd call last week (after our primary) asking about Don Bacon. They asked who I voted for in the primary. I said not Don bacon but the other guy. They asked who I would vote for in the general…democrat or Don Bacon. I said I will never vote for Bacon…he asked if I will vote for the democrat. I said I won't vote in that race. He asked who i voted for in the presidential race. I told him Trump.

He asked if I was Linda…..full name. I was surprised he would know my full name. I called the number back…1-402-403-4478 and it is legit.

Bacon won big…not many knew he had voted with Liz Cheney against Trump. He must be calling the people who called and sent angry text.

Their primary isn’t until August...we have to put up with the skank until then but maybe this crap will be the final nails in her coffin.

A number of them, like Cheney, are true Deep State RINOs. Others are just “pear clutchers”, responding to the latest media hysteria or crisis of the moment like trained seals. We see some of that here even on this forum.

I did not support the commission and certainly not Pelosi’s witch-hunt committee. I can forgive the commission Republicans as many were trying to head off what we are seeing now. Also, depends on their other votes and past support of the Trump agenda.

For instance a Republican that supported Trump’s agenda, supported the wall, strong on immigration enforcement and gun rights can be forgiven for the commission vote.

None of the people who voted for the commission supported building the wall, quite the opposite, they are mostly amnesty supporters.
