BALTIMORE — Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, nearing the end of his administration and actively flirting with a presidential bid in 2024, could face a significant challenge winning Republican voters’ support over former President Donald Trump in the state where Hogan has been a popular, twice-elected governor, a new poll shows.
In a potential primary matchup between Trump, Hogan and four other possible candidates, Trump has twice the support of Hogan among likely Republican voters in Maryland, according to the poll from Baltimore Sun Media and the University of Baltimore.
Trump was the first choice of 48% of Maryland Republican voters, compared with 25% for Hogan if the presidential primary was held now, the poll of 428 voters found. The theoretical six-way race showed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at 12%, former Vice President Mike Pence at 6%, former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley at 5%, Texas U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz at 1% and undecided or other at a combined 4%.
Conducted May 27 through June 2, the poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.7 percentage points.

In their minds, "moderate" pantywaists like Larry Hogan are just the greatest thing ever!
But it doesn't translate to votes (unless they're fixed!)
Larry Hogan is the new John Kasich - and he wouldn't even win his own state in a presidential primary like Kasich did.
Oh, too bad!
I’ve got a better chance than that idiot.
No one is voting for that fat bastard. Sheesh/\.
In all fairness, Kasich won his primary before he went full ‘tard. He was still pretending to be seriously conservative at the time.
Nimrata Randhawa was born an Indian national from TWO Indian national parents.
She is NOT a natural born citizen.
You sure that was not “severely” conservative?
What is sick about this poll is that so many so-called Republicans support Hogan.
Yup.
Hogan is irrelevant.
Ted Cruz was a Canadian citizen until 2015.
NOT a natural born citizen.
Given modern-day Maryland (THE Freak State™), somebody like Hogan is the best that we can hope for in a governor.
But there’s no way he’d play in a Red state (or even a Purple state).
I was trying to find a polite way to say exactly what you said, but the best I could come up with is “Effing stupid poll. I have a better chance than that jerkoff Hogan.
Boy, and is HE ever a piece of work.
That’ll work.
Larry Hogan couldn’t win the state of Maryland in the general.
Hogan wouldn’t even win Maryland in a general presidential election regardless of who he’s running against.
Hogan is popular with moderate democrats and independents who realize what a true leftist would do….Maryland, like Massachusetts, is a Super Majority democrat House and Senate, making the RINO governor irrelevant.
Might think of himself as such, except that Mitt the $#*+ thought of that slogan first.
Maryland also suffers from court-imposed election rules that abandoned the election of state senators by county and forced their election (G) the populace at-large us to “violation of civil rights”;same as the delegates.
This unbalanced the checks on power that result from rural counties. Ow, elections here are controlled by Montgomery County, Prince George’s County and Baltimore City.
In a state chock-full of dumbass liberals and democrats, Hogan is about the best you can expect to get elected with an "R" behind his name. It's not like he has done anything worth running on either, the legislature regularly overrides his vetoes with impunity - it's actually sort of pathetic, much like the man himself.
