“So I count two victims. Don’t you?”

No. One victim. The victim who had his rifle stolen, retrieved his pistol from his truck and then left the scene after a gunfight.

Did you have to pay the lawyer more than the replacement cost of the pistol?

Yeah...I’m confused. It said the perp took the AR. Did the victim have a pistol or something?

I can remember when high school kids had gun hooks on the inside window of their truck cabs-—and guns were there all day at school in deer hunting season.

Trucks were NOT locked up , either.

NO ONE every did any pilfering.

As gun writer Massad Ayoob called it years ago, “Veiled exhibitionism.”

“Good guy got rifle back.”

Police are looking for “Good guy” and his three companions that left in a bullet-ridden Ford.

“As a side note, this article is just more proof how woefully bad the 5.56 round is as this dummy took multiple hits from it at close range and is still breathing.”

AR-15 never fired.

Dean, it’s not clear if the rifle was successfully stolen or not. Can you elaborate?

Nope I missed it and thank you for clarifying.

I remember Petraeus being shot by an M16 and they stitched him up and he walked away fine that same day. Seeing feral dogs shot with a .223/5.56 they always run away. Not so with other comparable cartridges where they drop instantly (5.45/7.62 Soviet).

Yeah the joke is on me - I didn’t read (I admit it).

That Lungblaster 9 is an amazing round!

It may take a year or so, but he should get it back - he needs a lawyer to ensure it.

As far as I can tell, the police never had possession of he rifle.

The rifle owner retrieved the rifle before he fled the scene.

In some accounts, it is implied the second person who shot the robber took the rifle before he fled the scene.

I have not seen any accounts where the police had possession of the rifle.

“Dean, it’s not clear if the rifle was successfully stolen or not. Can you elaborate?”

From the article:
Robber was taken to the hospital and arrested. Third man left with rifle.

Probably companion of “victim”

Sounds like “victim” and companions were up to no good.

From the article, it remains unclear if the rifle was successfully stolen. I’ll wait for Dean.

Robber did not get rifle.

Again, I’ll wait for clarification from Dean... but, if the rifle was unstolen, and the bad guy got shot up, I consider it a successful transaction.

Thanks for the link to the shootout video.

It appears much as I expected, a gang shootout, probably enforcing their "turf" against someone who dared attempt to steal from a gang member.

You can see the rifle was not what would normally be called "openly carried", but was sloppily concealed carried under the jacket.

The person carrying it covers it up when it is exposed.

The robber who stole it, tries to get it to work while he is under fire.

The robber is unsuccessful.

Confederates of the rifle carrier work in coordination to shoot the robber, then flee together in a white car.
