It's funny, but my senior leaders had my back more than my battery and battalion commanders (until my last Bn Cdr in Germany, but that's another story).
I had just made 1st LT, and one of my "extra duties" was a reserve force leader when our local Nike Hercules battery had an NSI (Nuclear Surety Inspection). I had 4 hours to assemble 40 air defenders and get them over to the site about 5 miles away.
On my last one, I was feeling pretty good as we were there in 3 1/2 hours. However, the chief evaluator, a LT Col, started giving me a ration of crap, i.e. "why weren't you here, earlier?"
He didn't like my answer, that I took the time to train my soldiers in infantry tactics, because they hadn't seen that since Basic Training. I wasn't going to have them running around, with live ammunition, without having a sense of purpose as to their mission.
He didn't like my answer, to the extent he made several pointed comments in the outbriefing. My friends in the other battery were giddy, as that meant they passed their NSI with flying colors. If that was the worst the evaluator could comment on, in front of the ENTIRE CHAIN OF COMMAND, up to Deputy CG of 32nd AADCOM, then life was good.
When the evaluation team left, BG Archie Cannon made my day. As he opened his remarks, he pointed at me and said, "Lieutenant, I'll take that hit for you. Anytime you want to give your soldiers extra training, you have my express permission." Thus concluded one of the best days of an otherwise undistinguished military career...lol.
Yes, several years before they ended the 20 year retirement they introduced the Thrift Savings Plan aka TSP which is equivalent to the 401K and they swore up and down, of course they did, that the TSP would NEVER replace the 20 year retirement. I think they stopped it in 16 or 17.
Keep pushing the queer agenda, and your recruiting will remain low. I sadly will not recommend anyone to join up in any branch as long as this woke BS continues. It has and will get people killed at an ever increasing rate.
The only problem with that is the fact that the people they would Stop Loss are the very people they want to get rid of.
You know; REAL SOLDIERS, MARINES, SAILORS, and AIRMEN.
Todays military services are just going to have to stumble along with their QUEERS, LESBIANS, and TRANNIES!
