Annette Taddeo drops out of Florida gubernatorial race and shifts focus to US House seat By Steve Contorno, CNN
Mon June 06, 2022
(CNN) Florida state Sen. Annette Taddeo is dropping out of the Democratic primary for governor and instead plans to run for a Miami-area congressional seat.
Taddeo changed the bio on her campaign Twitter page on Monday to say, "Democrat for Congress in Florida's 27th District." Taddeo first shared her decision with CBS4 News in Miami, and explained that she had made the call to change races after the recent spree of mass shootings around the country.
"We are at a critical point in our country," Taddeo told the station. "And frankly, I am not going to stand on the sidelines and not go in there and fight, especially after what we saw in Buffalo and Uvalde."
Taddeo's shift to the congressional race will bring relief to national Democrats, who had failed to recruit a quality candidate to challenge Republican US Rep. Maria Elvira Salazar in what is now likely to be one of the most competitive House races in Florida of the midterm cycle. Salazar, a former television anchor, edged out a victory in 2020 over incumbent Democrat Donna Shalala in an election that saw President Joe Biden carry the district.

Salazar is a RINO...she needs to be primaried
I don’t care which office I win, I just want POWER! Great people who run for public office...
Near Miami are a lot of Cubans. Escaped from Cuba. They hate commies. She will be crushed.
Both parties are infested with them in NC.
“Salazar is a RINO...she needs to be primaried”
Very much so.
But as to those who claim that this district is an easy win for Republicans — not quite. It’s actually a majority-Rat district albeit by the slimmest possible margin. Regardless, it’s no easy slam-dunk and neither is the district adjacent to it which is also currently held by another liberal Republican (Gimenez).
I’d still like to think we can do better in south Florida than these two “moderates”.
You mean that Nikki and Charlie has better ideas (to ruin Florida) than you do? You must really be a crazy person!! 🤓
I’ve worked for a lot of bosses who just were there because they elevated themselves above the grunt work. They were selfish, lousy bosses almost all of them concerned with the glory of the title and the power. It’s so depressing to see that is what is running the greatest country in the world.
You have to consider that her constituents are not the members of Free Republic. They are RINOs, Independents, and Democrats who are willing to vote for her, but would never vote for a candidate that would satisfy you. That only works in the Democrat Party where money, not ideology makes the difference. Once elected, a Democrat then votes idedology because they have no other choice.
