Former President Donald Trump has surpassed Richard Nixon as the poster child of corruption, according to Watergate sleuths Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein.
The pair, famous for how they helped expose the Watergate scandal in the Nixon administration nearly 50 years ago, were again published by the Washington Post on Sunday, days ahead of when the House committee investigating the Capitol riot is scheduled to hold the first in a series of summer hearings, calling Trump the first "seditious" president.
Whereas "instruments of American democracy finally stopped Nixon dead in his tracks, forcing the only resignation of a president in American history," Woodward and Bernstein write that Trump "not only sought to destroy the electoral system through false claims of voter fraud and unprecedented public intimidation of state election officials, but he also then attempted to prevent the peaceful transfer of power to his duly elected successor, for the first time in American history."
Trump, who has denied responsibility for the Capitol riot, engaged in a "deception that exceeded even Nixon’s imagination," they wrote, referring to the 45th president's efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 election.
Woodward and Bernstein draw a direct line between Trump's actions and the violence at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, the day lawmakers gathered to certify Joe Biden's presidential victory, with former Vice President Mike Pence presiding and refusing to play along with any bid to overturn the election's outcome.

Absent any admission of what was done to the best President ever, their assertions are nothing but drool.
These two are the Captain Qeeeg reliving their greatest caper instead of dealing with the crisis at hand. And the crew of the Caine are suffering for it.

President Donald Trump is a Natural Born Citizen and has done nothing to steal an election.
Yeah, telling people to march peacefully and patriotically in front of the Capitol Building to protest a stolen election is sedition.
Woodward and Bernstein need to ride off together into the sunset.
Nixon did a lot of bad stuff during his Administration. Took the US off the gold standard and made the dollar a fiat currency, opened up the PRC, wage and price controls. Surrendered to Vietnam.
Watergate isn’t even in the top 20 of the bad stuff he did. Campaign dirty trick? That’s just par for the course with all campaigns. The only problem there is that he got caught and covered it up rather than immediately disavow and employ plausible deniability.
So they framed Nixon too ?
The Bible talks about those who do not receive “the love of the truth” (2 Thess. 2:10) who instead actually believe a lie.
All the evidence of the fraudulent 2020 election and you still have these people who believe the lie that it was not rigged.
Apparently Woodward and Bernstein are among the ones who “take pleasure in unrighteousness” (2 Thess. 2:12) and are themselves swallowed up by the lies they believe.
It will get worse. This is only a preview of coming attractions in this world.
Republicans never should have pulled support from Nixon over nothing and these two hacks wouldn’t have had a career.
Nixon stood by his people on Watergate and he paid a price for it.
I think Nixon and or his people bad stuff aside from Watergate.
Even if he was, he wouldn’t be the first.
But the opposite is true, anyway. He is the only NON treasonous President in the last 35 years
