When I did BCT (1969) we qualified on both the M-14 *and* the M-16. Back then the M-16 was fully automatic...one pull of the trigger took care of the entire clip. They even once allowed us to place the weapon on automatic...it was an amazing thrill for this 19 year old kid from the suburbs.

But the AR-15 is not automatic...one trigger pull equals one round fired. And for that matter today's M-16 has been modified so it only fires three rounds per trigger pull when on "auto".

ALL politicians need a required/mandatory class on identification of firearms. FAIL the final and you’re out of a job. “You’re not qualified to make laws regarding this subject to the citizens. Stick to something you know.”
