Uvalde Schools have a total of 4100 students. How and why was an independent police force established for such a small enrollment? Far better to pay for police/sheriff deputies to serve as ‘resource officers’ who revert to being regular real world cops when school is out.

There are even smaller school districts, in TX, with their own “PD”.

They USED to be patrolled by local Sheriff Depts, and, that always seemed to work, just fine.

I personally think this is just another way for school district’s to ‘require’/justify increased budgets, while maintaining ‘control’.

Just my 2¢

The district also employs an “Executive Director of Communications & Marketing” (with such a fancy title I assume she has a staff), so yes there is a lot of money being spent on things other than teaching the kids.

I am nowhere near local, but I bet if someone local were interested they could find a lot of make-work jobs in that district.
