In my opinion, it would be hard for him to win the nomination, which he would ultimately prevail, but some percentage of the population would never for vote for someone facing criminal charges, regardless of their validity.

"Using some logic", if they can do it to Trump and his associates, regardless of the charges validity, they will do it to any potential presidential candidate who is a threat to their control, reagrdless of the charges validity.

So if you replace Trump with DeSantis, the same thing will happen to him and his associates.

You absolutely can't back down based on a threat of bogus charges. It makes no sense to do that.

If DeSantis were to win, they certainly would do it to him, they have tried to impeach every Republican POTUS since Nixon.

No one is backing down, continue to believe what you want, but if Trump is indicted it will be very unlikely, he is the nominee and even a more remote chance he would win.

To my knowledge we’ve never had a candidate for President under indictment.
