As Republicans, we shouldn’t be monolithic in our choices of candidates, only our ideology — and even that is subject to some nuance.
An election is coming. A highly — if not the highest ever — critical one. Not all of us are fans of Trump. In my case, I campaigned for him in ‘16, but he wasn’t my choice in the primaries. The same will out this go around.
There are other choices out there that some on the right feel would be better selections at the outset. It’s called coalitions, and they are extremely valuable, especially when combining them later to fill in any gaps one candidate or another has — and Trump has several, as does DeSantis. If you want to grind away the Bush/Cheney/Romney side of the party, these coalitions will be necessary to combine forces and fight. I’m certain that any DeSantis supporter in the primary will be enthusiastic supporters of Trump in the general.
In another earlier comment, you said Trump or nothing. This is antithetical to coalition building, and leads to fractures that bring Obamas, Clintons, Bidens, and yes, even Bush/Cheneys.
Allow the primary season to sort itself out. Most of us have the same goals, just different choices of vehicles to get there. I would suggest we not alienate those we will need to fight alongside of in the future…
