DeSantis is a political star these days. In my travels any time I mention I am from Florida and the talk is politics the subject goes to DeSantis. He’s very popular with the GOP base across the country right now. His career resume doesn’t scream MAGA so I do have my reservations but he’s definitely popular right now.
I hate to having reservations about a man who has shown himself to be a real leader. But while he is popular with the GOP base I don’t think that ‘confidence’ extends into the upper echelons of the party’s poobahs. He’s not Deep State enough for them and worse, they might not be able to control him. I fear they will undermine him, if they’re not already doing it.
I view his possible candidacy as having two obstacles. The party apparatus itself and a vicious media that will portray him as a soulless conservative autocrat. The question is can he shed that image and appeal to enough people to get elected?
Again, I would vote for him in a heart beat but realize not every voter appreciates the qualities we do. If I was advising him I’d suggest he go on a charm offensive right after the elections. It just might work.
DeSantis...very popular with the GOP base across the country right now.

As I said in my reply a few days ago I like DeSantis. But after watching the unfolding economic debacle in this country I’m not sure he’s got the economic chops to get us out of this mess. Its going to take someone with a business/financial/negotiating background like Trump had to clean it. DeSantis is great on a lot of issues but I question his ability to lead an economic revival. JMHO
