Gov. Ron DeSantis once again swept a straw poll for 2024 presidential candidates at a Colorado conservative conference Saturday, beating out former former President Donald Trump and other possible contenders.
The attendees of the Western Conservative Summit, organized by the Centennial Institute, a think tank associated with Colorado Christian University, approved of a potential DeSantis candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination at 71%, with Trump coming in at 67%.
The straw poll was conducted based on an "approval" system, which allowed attendees to vote for more than one candidate that they could support.
DeSantis won the 2024 straw poll last year at the Western Conservative Summit, narrowly edging out Trump. DeSantis received 74% approval to Trump's 71% in 2021.

Do you think it’s a good idea to keep electing people who’ve never once worked in the private sector?
How many other lawyers/career politicians defended Trump one minute then lined up to undermine him and shank him in the back?
And lots wouldn’t want to vote for a Commander in Chief who hasn’t spent real time in the military like DeSantis has (6 years) AND time as a successful managerial executive in government like DeSantis will have (6 years).
Sure, ideally we’d have those plus private sector experiences in a background, but ultimately we’ve got to choose from among those who present themselves as viable candidates.
Over the past 2 years DeSantis has answered the bell fighting lots of tyranny that other pols have instead aided and abetted.
He was a flipping lawyer in the military...lol!
DeSantis was a legal advisor for the SEALs...C’mon.
Do you think it’s a good idea to keep electing people who’ve never once worked in the private sector?
He worked his way through college. Good enough for me.
Did you?

Byrne is a showboater and his comment doesn't ring true.
No, thanks.
I bet it is...
Hypocrisy on parade.
Not as a rule, no.
But is it a good idea to again elect someone with no previous experience in government to lead the executive branch of the US government?
good afternoon friend...
i agree on all points...
i prefer desantis serves a full second term as florida governor...
trump/musk revenge tour 2024...
You're referring to Trump? The guy who built a planet wide empire, who's been the most honest, forthright, outspoken president in modern American history? The guy who blew an entire short bus of career politicians off the stage, beating all of them. The only guy who's done something about these violent open borders, while others from both parties gave you nothing but lip service and lies for 35+ years? They hated Trump because he couldn't be bribed or influenced by the corrupt. No?
Trump has a bond with tens of millions of his supporters, it's historic and not been seen in modern America. You'd have to dial back to the founders to see this type of relationship between a leader and the people.
DeSantis? C'mon...He might be a nice guy who does some things right, but he's no Trump. Not even close.
Ya mean as opposed to career insider politicians who've never held a real job? Btw, outside the Trump era, what did all that government experience get us? I'll tell you what it got us, debt, death, open borders, sky high crime, an economy on the brink and chaos in every direction.
Any more questions?
Nah... DeSantis/Jordan
Excellent point.
Were you similarly bought in on the Bushes?
Exactly. Jeb would have won had he been on the ballot…
I suspect that our GOP primaries will be more than interesting in 2024, eh?
Ya got no where else to go, so try to make it about me. Nice evasive diversion.
