They’re in Hell: Hail of Russian artillery tests Ukrainian morale
Washington Post — June 3, 2022

The Russian army grinds the Armed Forces of Ukraine near Severodonetsk and Lysichansk

Correspondents of The Washington Post spoke about the plight of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the area.

The journalists talked about the situation with the Ukrainians, who said that it was difficult for them to hold their positions.

The Russian military is an order of magnitude superior to the APU in firepower.

🔹The Armed Forces of Ukraine suffer heavy losses, which affects the morale of the troops.

🔹The TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower systems, which destroy them even in the trenches, are especially terrifying.

🔹The Russian military prefer not to engage in direct confrontation, grinding the APU with artillery.

The summary of the journalists is that the defense of the Ukrainian army near Severodonetsk is on the verge of collapse, and their morale is as low as ever.

Interesting point that Russian military prefer not to engage in direct confrontation and instead grind Ukraine with artillery. That tactic explains why the Russian casualties, with only a few exceptions, have been surprisingly low after the first few weeks of the conflict.

I posted yesterday “breaking news” that Zelensky had just countermanded General Z’s withdraw order (they have been arguing for two weeks about this issue) in Severodonetsk and ordered the troops that had withdrawn to return. They immediately did.

Arestovich 2 days ago: “We dragged Russian troops into a trap in Severodonetsk, pretending to “surrender” the city. Now the Russian command is in shock.”

“UKR tactics to “hug” RU units have effectively negated Russian air and artillery superiority.”

Arestovich today: “Possible complete capture of Severodonetsk by Russian troops will not strategically change the situation at the front”

At this time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine control 20% of Severodonetsk, we have not returned any streets under our control, but only delayed the advance of the Russian army to the industrial zone.

🇷🇺🇺🇦⚡The strategic plan of Russia in this war is to reach the administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk regions, as well as to capture the entire Kherson, Zaporozhye regions, enter Zaporozhye and Nikolaev, which will create the prerequisites for a further offensive to capture the Dnieper and Odessa. How much effort and time they will need to concentrate troops capable of solving this problem is unknown, but they are not going to stop, - Arestovich.

TOS-1As are not flamethrowers; they are phosphorus-based thermobaric rocket launchers.

The troops that returned to Severodonetsk are 200-300 troops from the International Brigade, not UA troops. The Orcs are now under the UA artillery on the heights of Lysichansk.

The Orcs use artillery because they have 4,000 tubes with unlimited free ammo and because most of their best troops are 200s.

The capture Severodonetsk is an Orc propaganda piece and not a strategic milestone as the article rightfully says.

Putin trolls are very unhappy about this turn of events and are out in force today to squash any hint of militarily good news for the people of Ukraine.

Artillery is what they do.

And they do it well.

Better than most.

Quantity over Quality.
