The NGAD fighter would cost multiple hundreds of millions of dollars.
Once the adjustments for inflation and corruption are determined they will have the actual price.

Sure is a nice looking bird...but how long will it be before fighters are replaced by drones? Maybe at that point we can just have machines fight the wars.

Which war is it fighting?

That may not be that far-fetched!

Could turn out to be a flying Littoral Combat Ship (LCS).

You can predict the winner by figuring out which defense contractor has the most retired generals on their payroll. Raptor was a fluster cluck when it came out of EMD. F-35 was no better. They were too arrogant to learn from Raptor. Typical Lock-Mart.

I was under the impression that the F-35 was supposed to be all that and a bag of chips, now they want another??? Oh, wait, Military Industrial Complex, graft, and so on. Business as usual.

I used to drink with a guy who was deep into the Boeing flight training program related to the F-22. Their program was only simulators.
He was told the F-35 would be the last manned fighter.

kinda but not that close but considering aerodynamics desired and stealth desired there will be common looking features

the f-35 was given to lockheed martin for two major reasons
1 - if they didn’t get it they’d have zero military aircraft contracts
2 - boeing had done a late-stage partial redesign which made their plane work a lot better, arguably better than lockheed’s plane, but because of that, had not hit the complete testing milestones needed with those new changes in the competition/development timeframe

Dumb - drones are clearly the technology we need. The AF is run by fighter pilots who can’t get over the fact that their tech is obsolete.
