China conducts military exercises near Taiwan, warns U.S. of 'serious consequences'

China recently conducted combat readiness patrols in the waters and airspace around Taiwan, Beijing's military announced Wednesday, calling the exercises a "necessary action" in response to "collusion" between Washington and Taipei.

"The troops in the theater continue to strengthen military training and preparations, improve their ability to perform their missions and resolutely thwart any external forces' interference," Col. Shi Yi of the People's Liberation Army Eastern Theater Command said in a statement.

Beijing views Taiwan as a wayward province and has ratcheted up a military pressure campaign over the past several months, alarming Washington, which has grown increasingly vocal in its support of the self-governing island.

U.S. President Joe Biden said last week that the United States would come to Taiwan's aid militarily if China launched an invasion, sparking an angry outcry in Beijing.

This is to be taken far more seriously than Russia's bluster about striking the East and West Coast of America with nukes. The Chinese are serious, the threat is real. Here is an assessment written yesterday:

Steve Bannon's show has outlined significant and frightening preparations made by China for the invasion of Taiwan. The point is made that the seventh Fleet is simply not ready to defend Taiwan even if feckless Joe Biden can muster the will to do so.

The country is not ready to defend Taiwan, we the people have no idea of the strategic military and economic importance of Taiwan to the United States and therefore no conception of the vital national security interest at stake.

A kinetic war with China over Taiwan will catch us at the weakest of moments. The landmass of Asia will be against us, Iran, on the verge of having the bomb or given one off-the-shelf by Russia, will turn the Middle East into a worse snake pit and point is spirit our flank, after Afghanistan our Pacific allies have lost faith in our ability to act effectively in defense of the region. Our country is internally riven with no confidence on either side in the commander-in-chief, we are on the verge of depression and we have no financial or manufacturing base to wage extensive war against 1.5 billion people.

Without national awareness we are certainly not willing to sustain the kinds of casualties necessary to engage China in a full-scale kinetic war. If we are afraid of nuclear war coming out of Ukraine, the risk is geometrically greater in a war with China.

Our fleet, as noted, is not ready. The loss of Taiwan with its chips means depression at home. China, evidenced by the plans it is now implementing, appears willing to sustain terrible economic consequences if that is the price for Taiwan.

Will the next John F. Kennedy write Why America Slept in the wake of a catastrophic defeat?

“The Chinese are serious, the threat is real. “

A clue might have been when XI said they were going to take over the world and they want to use bioweapons to depopulate the U.S.
