The African journalist who interrupted Jen Psaki’s final White House press briefing earlier this month says the financial processing company Stripe is cutting off his publication’s income.
Today News Africa correspondent Simon Ateba provided The Post with copies of messages informing him that his website’s offer of a “lifetime” subscription — for $1,490 — violated Stripe company policies and therefore he’d have to start from scratch with another payment processor.
“Hi Simon, We’re writing to inform you that we have determined your business, todaynewsafrica.com … is in violation of the Stripe Services Agreement. Specifically, we are unable to accept payments for subscriptions over a year or extended warranties, as mentioned on our Restricted Businesses list,” reads a Sunday email signed by “The Stripe Team.”

I had a problem finding the rules for the use of a Stripe Account which is what governs their use, but I did find this:
To the extent that you become aware of a Connected Account being engaged in any fraudulent, unlawful, deceptive or ABUSIVE activity, you must promptly notify Stripe. Once notified by you, Stripe will use commercially reasonable efforts to promptly determine whether to terminate or suspend any such account’s access to the Services.

If Stripe determined the heckling of Psaki to be abusive, and they could have, they can pull the plug by the agreement signed. But I can find nothing to determine why that plug was pulled. This is just a guess at best but it makes what they did legal by the contract both signed.

It’s Africa. A lot of lifetimes there have less than a year.
Those long, fine-print, service agreements are a nuisance, but it appears in this case he was violating the terms of service by offering services for payment when services would be rendered beyond one year.
Yes, his heckling may have triggered scrutiny, but the rule is reasonable.
However, a good business would seek to rectify the issue rather than simply cancel a customer.

We live in a world now of contract determination. If the company is allowed to determine abuse as heckling in a public forum, which it is when applied at that level, then they are within their rights to cut off services as per the contract that was signed by the user.
And when the determination is made by a company in support of the people being abused, it is possible it could be called misapplication of contractual terms. However, try and prove it and get a court to admit to it. They are no better many times than the people they protect...and most of the time untouchable when it come to a lawful determination. This is why they have higher (other) courts. Birds of a feather. Example is the 9th circuit of appeals in San Francisco. These are the people that wanted “In God We Trust” off the US money. That zoo should be on the discovery channel.
