My dad watches FOX ... due to his age, well on his way to losing his ability to walk & lack of technical skills (he can barely work the TV remote), he doesn’t have any other choice(s). I can say that watching what amounts to “poison” all day doesn’t do him much good. He’s depressed, negative, oh-woe-is-me, the country is doomed. Very sad.
Mom can barely navigate her email (age & lack of technical skills again); however, I have set her up with quick links to Citizens Free Press (her favorite) & Conservative Treehouse. She gets a less biased view of what passes for ‘news’ these days. She also watches the Trump rallies online whereas they are not always carried, in part or in full, on cable for dad to see.
As for me, no FOX for me .... I wasn’t liking them so much since the Meghan Kelly bad behavior at the debate where she was obviously trying to take a Trump scalp. The early call on election night for AZ was the very last straw. I occasionally hear FOX as I’m passing by the den door where dad is watching, but I do NOT turn it on. As for “cable” in general, I watch the occasional sports & that is it. Currently, I am watching the NHL playoffs and the WCWS (Women’s College World Series). The alma mater of many in the family is in the playoffs (do or die game today). Other than that, the TV is “off” - very much got away from it during the “age of COVID” the last year and a half. I pick and choose what I want to see online. Spending time outdoors in the garden, mowing, knitting on the porch watching the hummingbirds does a decent job of smoothing my ruffled soul feathers and that is something I have needed badly as the country spins out of control.
Most elderly parents would be super lucky to have a good daughter like you, congrats!
