The True Significance of Memorial Day
As our nation heads into a long holiday weekend, I’d like to take some time to reflect on the meaning behind Memorial Day. First recognized nationally in May of 1868, the holiday previously known as Decoration Day grew out of local tributes in the 1860s to those who died during the Civil War. Eventually the holiday became a day to honor all those who died in America’s wars and became a national holiday in 1971.
Parade Magazine writer Tamra Bolton said this about Memorial Day: “This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn’t come home. This is not Veterans Day, it’s not a celebration, it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom.” I concur, and encourage all of you to think about what freedom means to you the true meaning of service.
While this is a very meaningful day in our AFCEA community, Memorial Day also marks the unofficial start of summer. However you choose to observe this holiday, I hope all of you are also able to take some time to relax and recharge with loved ones while still remembering our fallen heroes so we are at our best as we take on our mission of national security.

Have a “humble” Memorial Day!
THese guys are ready to give it all up as well:
Now that Adam's time is running out, it appears he is looking for new things to do. Since I live in the district he is supposed to represent, I expect to see him competing with the guy who stands at the traffic light by the local Walmart begging for cash. Of course, that would require that Adam remember how to get around the district he is supposed to represent without relying on GPS.
Chris Murphy (D for Dumbass - CT). He makes Dickie BloomingIdiot look smart....
Sandra Smith is dreadful.
If FOX News wants ‘beautiful bimbos’ rather than serious conservative newspeople they should find someone competent than run a picture of Sandra Smith the upper right hand corner.
Sad that FNC keeps on with the meme of no evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 elections. If they do it too much they will eventually effect that precious bottom line they are so worried about.
It's one thing to try and keep law suits to a minimum yet another to: slap truth in the face over and over.
Maybe the powers that be at FNC need to reevaluate what they are doing to the future of the company which once agian is a major profit maker for the parent company.
Mostly RINOs everywhere. Houston's own one Eye Dan Crenshaw, while he was in Afghanistan his war record stops when he left the military, his Unamerican record started shortly after he was elected and chose to become a member of the Swamp - not what he campaigned on. He did win the primary by a large margin
Great thread everyone!
I would have participated more but today is a gorgeous day here in Alabama and I worked outside this morning. Planted the last of my tomato plants; getting ready to dig up my dying potatoes (dying because the weather got warm and it’s been 100 days since planting).
I just got started on that and the horse files attacked. Man, oh man, those things take blood!
So I reluctantly came back inside because that’s not a war I can win! Not that I don’t like posting here, though. But as the old farmers say, make hay while the sun shines!
I find it amazing people still watch deceitful lying tv talk shows like FOX, et al..
