The Buffalo mass murder has potential for what you posted, but I’m less inclined to believe this fits Uvalde, which seems more a matter of buck idiots doing what they do.
In a recent press conference, a Texas DPS Colonel walks through the timeline, and says something new (at least to me). Paraphrasing: “At 11:33 [some variety of LEO] sped around to the back of the school, thinking he saw the shooter by the open back door, only to realize the person he saw was a teacher, not the shooter.” Presumably the LEO moved on without either securing the door, or ordering the moron to get inside and lock the door. How can it be that despite fusillades of gunshots and a police car racing up to her in pursuit of a gunman, this teacher lacked the wit to go inside and lock the damn door? Or that the LEO didn’t yell at her to do so NOW? Instead she propped it open. Hey lady, thanks for your service.
Crazy food for thought: Reportedly, in the last year the Uvalde School District had 40-something lockdowns, almost always due to the Border Patrol chasing illegal immigrants in the vicinity.
Could it be that during “lockdowns”, someone at the school routinely props open the back door to help illegal immigrants evade the BP? I’m not saying that’s what happened — just exploring for a semi-rational explanation.
I wonder who the teacher was phoning.
With 40+ lock downs perhaps the teacher figured it was just another false alarm. “I’m just going for my cell phone, I’ll be back in a few and I don’t want to have to fumble for my keys.”
I read when it DID become obvious there was a killer outside the teacher ran inside to call 911 (but without closing the door???)
I wouldn’t be surprised if there had been 40 LE vehicle pursuits in Uvalde County in the last year. I would be shocked if the school had been locked down anything like 40 times in its history.
When law enforcement is in a high speed pursuit, they generally don’t know why. All they know is that a vehicle is fleeing — although they may be able to make an educated guess. A teacher at a school would have no idea if the suspect is fleeing because he has six illegals he is being paid to smuggle, because he has a severed human head is his car, or because he is drunk, stoned, wanted, or just wonders if he can outrun the cops.
There is no chance a teacher would prop open a door on the off chance the pursuit would end next to the elementary school, and she wanted to make it easy for the occupant(s) to enter the school with LEOs in pursuit.
