Texas Gov. Greg Abbott (R) on Friday said he expects new laws to be enacted in response the shooting this week that killed 21 people at an elementary school.
“Do we expect any laws to come out of this devastating crime? The answer is yes. Absolutely yes,” Abbott said.
When asked about calling a special session for the legislature in response to the shooting, he said “all options are on the table.”
Since the shooting, Republicans have focused their messaging on school security, while Democrats are advocating for more gun control.

Works for Israel.
Maybe Governors (and pretending Presidents) should hold back on press conferences and let situations resolve and investigations be completed before flying to the scene.
Predicting actual dangerousness is quite hard. And most predictions are not valid. The predicted danger does not occur. What everyone knows after the crime — is quite different from what almost everyone thought or knew before the crime. The crime colors and changes perceptions, memories, and commentary. Most people who make threats don't carry them out, they don't plan or intend to do so. While most actual or true psychopaths do have a history of killing or maiming animals - most people who kill or maim animals never become the sociopaths, the psychopaths or the murderers.
The 2nd Ammendment seems to be lacking what so many Freepers are seeking today .. that exception to “shall not be infringed” EXCEPT for wearing eye shadow, making threats, cutting, shouting, having crazy eyes, bad parents, etc.
We’ll make great friends.
Keep voting harder, suckers. The GOP will “fight for you!”
Has this guy been fired, yet?
Absolutely.
Just enforce the ones we have then prosecute and convict and punish.
Some of my buds say the same.
Yes. There should be no effort or cost spared to ensure children are safe 100% of the time. Period.
Hopefully soon he is not allowed to resign and is fired without pension and benefits.

No-one and nothing is EVER 100% safe ... those who foolishly seek 100% safety are the bane of civilization.
;’}
Yeah. Okay. So it is better to do nothing? It appears that you are the bane of society. All the best! 🙄
Happy I removed my two teens from public school last year—one to homeschooling, one to private.
But anything with a crowd is a risk—the Las Vegas music festival was not a school. . .
In CA, currently it’s impossible to have one entrance to schools. They were and are ALL built with pods and portables and individual outdoor (no indoor corridors) classrooms that each have their own individual doors. . .
Ridiculously faulty logic, such as what you just displayed, is another bane of civilization.
The logical fallacy you commit is "the excluded middle".
Do at least try to educate yourself.
You're on the right track. EVERYTHING involves risk.

The 2A is my absolute line in the sand ... it is the one issue that determines if a politician understands what liberty and freedom is. It is the one enumerated right that protects them all. Without the recognition of our natural right to self defense, all other liberties are just words on a page.
There was a locked door. Someone propped it open. There was a school resource officer. He wasn’t in the exact right place. They didn’t do “nothing”.
Kids will never be 100% safe. A maniac could run them down in a car at the bus stop. And I do not want kids living in a world where their school is an armed and barb wired Gulag
