Of course. But I was referring to British general Plumer’s approach - blast the front lines with artillery, advance one or two miles, stop, fight off the counterattacks, settle in new front line. Lather, rinse, repeat. Bit by bit, which is what the Russians appear to be doing.
I am guessing the blasting is being done mostly by tube artillery for logistical reasons. It is a lot easier to replenish tube artillery than large rocket launchers as the Russians do not have a very strong logistical train (too few trucks).
