A former Royal Marine and son of an MP has been filmed leading a team of British and US veterans in a mission to destroy a Russian armoured vehicle during a fierce battle in Ukraine.
Ben Grant, 30 – the son of Helen Grant, Conservative MP for Maidstone and The Weald, in Kent – is among a platoon of foreign fighters supporting Ukraine’s efforts in the war against Russia.
i has verified footage that shows the squad of Western volunteers, made up of former special forces, preparing to mount their attack on a BTR – a Russian armoured vehicle – from a forest on the frontline in the north-east of the country.
It was filmed during a 15-hour operation on Thursday in which i understands that about eight Russian soldiers were killed, with a further 30 Russian troops killed in a firefight when the team of 13 US and British fighters later linked up with Ukrainian forces to storm a trench.
During the mission, one fighter emerges from the woodland and aims a shoulder-held Matador anti-tank missile at the BTR, which is seen in a clearing about 100 metres away.
Mr Grant, who spent more than five years as a commando in the Royal Marines, is heard shouting “shoot it now” and “mind the back blast”, before the missile is launched.

Most of them seem to be SOF or similar, so allowing them to operate as independent teams seems like the best solution. Forward air or artillery observers would be even more valuable, I think.

Your video contradicts the headline of the hoax video the thread is based on. “Son of British MP fighting in Ukraine destroys Russian armoured vehicle alongside team of volunteer soldiers” Is a destroyed “armoured vehicle” able to drive off other its own power?

You can see objects flying up and out of the treetop level from the force of the explosion.
Please watch the video again and then explain to us how you (a) didn't see the vehicle explode, or (b) saw it explode but are posting lies anyway.
The first soldier in the pictures is wearing a US flag on his right shoulder but they blocked it out.
I watched the entire 20 second video. Sorry not buying it... at all. Since the Ruskies were supposedly all dead from the massive explosion, why didn't the clowns who made the video drop their drone in for a closer look? Why, because the whole thing is a pathetic fake. If it gives you your jollies buying into this nonsense then don't share it here where not everyone is a gullible fool and will spoil it for you.
If you aren't being paid to post propaganda then you really are delusional. Do you really think that somebody inside of an APC survives two explosions? The first one blew open the hatches in the back of the vehicle where the soldiers normally ride. The second, when the ammunition for the 30mm cannon detonated blew wreckage up past the tree line.
In case you really are that clueless, drone operators keep the drones at a safe altitude to avoid damage, detection, and counter fire. The same way that smart people keep a distance from exploding munitions.
I own a drone that I can pilot it using the camera that transmits back to my cell phone. It didn't cost very much, and in the type of situation being portrayed would be considered expendable when determining whether the scene was safe to approach. You found a link to a 20 second video that does not show enough to draw any conclusions. It is a fake.
You might notice also that the video that inews is saying is the "Son of a British MP" is captioned "American volunteers in Ukraine striking a Russian BTR". So which is it? inews is published by the Daily Mail but meant for people who are even more excitable. Who knows if they paid to produce this nonsense or if it was simply made available to them.
The tracks in the field especially the big loop at the end show that it is likely part of property used for recreation... most likely paint ballers and airsoft along with 4x4s, quads, and motorcycles with some farming activity..
It is sometimes difficult to believe that people buy into this type of thing so easily, but to make you feel better... years ago my brother took video of me taking off and flying off in my ultralight airplane. As I got further away he shifted the camera to a model airplane that was doing aerobatics above the model aircraft field that was located behind the hangar where I kept the ultralight. When I returned he shifted the camera back to me. The majority who were not pilots or aviation enthusiasts who were shown the video even without any editing, thought that I had been doing extreme aerobatics in my ultralight. So I don't really blame you for buying into this. You just have not looked closely at the few details and the believability that someone part of this group would not go in for some closer confirmation of what happened and whether there were salvageable weapons and materials that could be salvaged if the scene appeared to be safe to approach by the drone operator. I also put the coordinates into Google Earth Pro, and looked at pictures from nearby. I congratulate them for finding a similar looking field, but there are who knows how many other fields that look similar from areas many thousands of mile away from there. I also looked at pictures that have been taken in the surrounding area and am not convinced that the foliage is a good match.
You of course realize that in Kharkiv Oblast where this video was supposedly taken... the inhabitants speak Russian. The population have been victims in this region of the “Azov regiment” who have massacred many there over the past few years. They likely are not amenable to foreign mercenaries sneaking around in their fields shooting people and firing rockets at vehicles which may or may not be part of Russian forces. Tell me, does this group coordinate with the Ukrainian military, or do they just harass any target of opportunity? The reason you do not know the answers to these questions is because you have fallen for a hoax.
Did you actually look at the video? It is very clear that the APC gets hit and destroyed by secondary explosions. There is nothing unclear about it. You can see the explosions happen, and you can see the debris flying out of the vehicle.
Why are you making up complicated and ridiculous hypotheticals like the drone the soldiers are using "doesn't cost very much" so they would consider it expendable. That's just stupid. They are out in the forests north of Kharkiv in Ukraine fighting with the Russian army. Do you think they can just order a replacement on Amazon and have it delivered?
It seems like you have some kind of deep seated denial. There is a war going on in Ukraine, and due to modern technology there is a lot of video data available. It isn't a paint ball game.

The video was cut at 20 seconds before any assessment of the damage was possible. Why? It is most likely a fake.
I don't believe the propaganda from either side and have made that very clear repeatedly. Putin is the person most responsible for the thousands of recent deaths and injuries resulting from this conflict. The Russians are profiting handsomely from the uncertainty that this has introduced into energy and food markets. They are going to drag this out as long as long as it is lining their pockets. This is no longer about what you think it is about.
However, the area that this video supposedly came from is Russian speaking. The residents there have been victims of atrocities by Nazi uniform wearing thugs with the full knowledge of the current Soros installed corrupt regime. That is not propaganda that is well documented fact from multiple sources going back years.
Your name calling and hissy fits, along with no answers to the valid questions about the video that you linked to displays only your immaturity and foolishness. Nothing that has been posted about this story adds up, starting with conflicting info about who the alleged protagonists are supposed to be. And the location of the alleged incident is nothing but silliness.
It is nothing but unfortunate that the misery and fate of the Ukrainian people provides so much entertainment value to you and others here. It is nothing but bad, especially on this sacred weekend. You need to get a life.
