Nice try, Sparky. A real conservative would support Bernie Sanders for president, and would embrace the hard-left argument that income inequality is the greatest ill in America.
As for his opposition to “liberal hegemony,” that was a criticism of free-market capitalism on an international scale. He argued that our economic system (free-market capitalism) was doomed to failure if employed on a global level, but that it was more properly intended for national purposes. And then he criticized how the US implemented capitalism because it was so unequal. So, as he said the Soviets mismanaged communism, he also said the US mismanaged capitalism.
