i think they banned that ingredient in the mid 2000s ?

I remember something about a patent expiring and suddenly that specific ingredient was found to cause cancer in mice or something.

I knew several old people who needed the speed that they had relied on for many years start pounding cases of mountain dew.

That was the one before pseudoephedrine (sudafed). It was being abused by chicks with eating disorders to suppress appetite and to speed up their metabolism. Several fell over dead from heart failure.

Pissed me off like crazy because it was a far better cold medication for my children who were in their snot nose phase at the time. Sudafed worked, but it made them aggressive. Not a lot of fun, mothering four sick, yet homicidal pre-schoolers.
