If I had a kid in school

You would be best advised to get your kid OUT of school, and teach him at home. Government schools are worse than useless. Private schools are a mixed bag, to be carefully and thoroughly investigated before trusting.

Far too many teachers have a "subject-matter education" degree, not an actual "subject matter" degree ... the "education" aspect poisons their minds.
