PJ media is reporting that he led law enforcement on an 85 mile, high-speed chase before crashing and entering the school. They couldn’t stop him within 85 miles? WTF?

I thought the article said he lived near the school
Methinks the writer forgot the words "per hour" after "mile[s]."
The real report says the kid lived with his grandmother 3 miles from the school. The town where they lived is 80 miles from San Antonio.
No long car chase.
His grandmother’s house was like a few blocks away from the school. I’m guessing they meant to say 85mph chase.
SO IIUC, the school and children were not part of a plan, just a target of opportunity?
Thanks for posting that article as it has details not in the mainstream news reporting. So he shot his grandmother in San Antonio and then drove to Uvalde? That is an important detail and how come he was able to evade law enforcement on a high speed chase for such a long time.
Big, empty state, not many intersections where he could be headed off, perhaps, and no helicopters like in urban areas?

Highly probable fakenews.
I watch videos of high speed chases and think, "forget the spike strips, if it's dangerous enough to risk crashing into people at high speeds, it's time to break out the AR-12s and reduce the vehicle to a smoking wreck". Survival of the driver is far down the list of priorities.
Mount narrower-field claymore mines on the front and back of pursuit vehicles and take the perps down hard.
