There was a true conservative in this race docwashburn. But her name , money won out.
Democrats were actively raising money for her here.

I still remember the story she told about her father winning when Clinton vacated the office and all he had was an empty office, because Clinton either sold off or gave away the office furniture. Jim Guy Tucker followed Clinton as governor of Arkansas, not Huckabee. Since the office of Lieutenant Governor had been vacant for over a year when Huckabee was sworn in in 1993 it's entirely possible that there wasn't any furniture ready but that wouldn't have been Clinton's fault.
