Perhaps we should look at the organization closer to consider supporting them?
I blame United Way for some of this mess. They burrowed into the board room and got execs to become socially active. Social activity is something execs, employees and customers should do on their own time with their own money leaving the company out of it. If they have time for this kind of thing in the board room they have more time they should be spending to make money for their shareholders, improving their product and service to their customers and making the company a better place to work for more productive and profit making employees.
There is only one reason for a company, making money. Leave the social engineering to people and philanthropies. Whoever got this social obligation thing going found a muddle brained chump to prey on. A well run company accomplishes societal obligations with well off shareholders who can spend their money how they want to and happy employees that can do what they want to on their own time with their own money.
You are right. I hate the United Way.
