In other words...”When Gail Curley began her job as Marshall of the US Supreme Court less than a year ago, she would have expected a typical make work job for the US Government getting paid for doing nothing all day. Now, suddenly, she has to do actual work.

I consider that paragraph a complete waste of words. That’s not a criticism of you but of the author.
