I’m reading William Shirer’s ….The Nightmare Years…..(a prelude to his Rise and Fall of the Third Reich)

He also says Dodd was very prescient about Hitler, and a strong ambassador for the US
He left his position after gritting through the build up of horrors and trying very hard to affect change……he was disgusted by Hitler, et al….

I just finished reading Erik Larson's "In the Garden of Beasts". This book is about William Dodd's experiences as ambassador to Germany. I also read Erik Larson's "Dead Wake" about the sinking of the Lusitania and "Isaac's Storm" about the 1900 Galveston hurricane. Joe Kennedy was ambassador to England prior to the war and was removed soon after it started. He supported Adolf.
