This is laughable...
Federal Gas taxes per gallon, even at this high price, around or more than the actual profits the oil companies make per gallon of gasoline.. if you add in the state taxes Taxes are WAY more per gallon than oil company profits per gallon...
But remember its the oil companies that are gouging you....
Good point. And with price controls, and the obvious shutdown of supply which will follow, that tax revenue will dry up, too.
