Idaho Gov. Brad Little won the Republican Party’s nomination for a second term on Tuesday, easily outpacing a conservative challenger who had former President Trump’s support.
But Little’s allies in the state legislature were far less fortunate, as a conservative wave fueled by anger at the outcome of the 2020 elections and Little’s own effort to slow the spread of the coronavirus pandemic crashed over what is already one of the most ruby-red states in America.
Twenty incumbent state legislators either lost their seats or lost races to move from the House to the Senate on Tuesday.
Among them: state Sen. Carl Crabtree (R), chairman of the Senate Education Committee; state Sen. Jeff Agenbroad (R), chairman of the powerful Senate Finance Committee; state Sen. Jim Patrick (R), chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee; state Sen. Fred Martin (R), chairman of the Health and Welfare Committee; and state Sen. Peter Riggs (R), Martin’s vice chairman and the son of former Lt. Gov. Jack Riggs (R).
None of the five would pass as moderate in almost any other state. But all five lost to challengers who painted them as roadblocks to conservative progress.
“For quite a few races particular in the Senate, it was challenges from the far right that defeated those incumbents,” said Jaclyn Kettler, a political scientist at Boise State University. “It looks like the Senate will now be moving farther to the right.”

Good
At the rate those filthy kalifornians are invading the state, the above assertion might be in question. Time will tell. Cf. Kolorado, Orygone, Washington...
Actually, a LOT of people are migrating to Idaho from Washington and Oregon, and a majority of them are conservatives fleeing the deep blue trenches of occupied Seattle and Portland, respectively.
For some it’s as far as they’ll go. For others, it’s just a truck stop on an existence further inland. One peer of mine fled Seattle and lives Coeur d’Alene now. They’re going to wait it out there to see if the situation in Washington state, their birthplace, improves. If things start to go south in Idaho, they’re planning to move to the Dakotas.
More and more Americans are fleeing to known-good states, because they’ve lost all hope in their original homes.
Here in eastern TN a whole slew of new homes were built in our subdivision within the last year. California license plates of new owners scared us. We’ve met several of them, and they’re young and strongly conservative. (sigh with relief)
Some of my kalifornia acquaintances have also moved there. Boise is ruined and they're trying to kalifornicate Coeur d'Alene also.
They're building expensive homes, raising property taxes and will do to Coeur d'Alene what the liberals did to Jackson Hole, WY. There, the millionaires chased out the locals, and the billionaires chased out the millionaires.
Oh, and, you say, "a LOT of people are migrating to Idaho from Washington and Oregon, and a majority of them are conservatives."
I don't believe it. People living in those sewers cannot be true conservatives. Guaranteed, they still have liberal tendencies. Maybe drug legalization. Open borders. Sympathy for addicts living on the streets. Whatever. Just because someone decides they can't tolerate the open filth of a democRAT city does not make them conservative.
I see that phenomenon on FR, even. Some moron libertarian buys a gun and he thinks he's a conservative.
I don't believe it. Or them.
I lived in kalifornia, work related, for a few years.
Kalifornians have wised up to America's hatred for all things kalifornia and are hiding their liberal ideology.
Americans have no idea how deeply the kalifornia rot is embedded in people in that state.
BTW, I was in Tennessee for about 13 years. Two college degrees. And several years working there.
My TN friends complain about 1) messycan mongrels and 2) liberals invading The Volunteer State.

People forget what happened to the Native Americans after
Columbus sailed the blue in 1492. Rulers come and go with
various shades of color.
“I don’t believe it. Or them.”
Directly across the street is a young couple who grew up in northern CA and attend John MacArthur’s church in Santa Clarita. They’ll move in after graduation.
Next door to them is another young couple married a couple months ago who originally are from San Diego and moved from there. Retired military.
Conservative friends who live a few doors down from us have met their new across-the-street neighbors and absolutely believe they’re conservative. Our friends have great BS meters and the husband has ordered Biden supporters to, “Get off my lawn and don’t come back!”.
Please don’t call me a liar.
Great Good News!
Way to go, Idaho..
“I lived in kalifornia, work related, for a few years.”
Hubby is a SoCal person — grew up in Glendale. We lived there for 15 years while he worked for DOD in missile defense.
We are surprised that our churches there were more fundamental and conservative than ANY we have found in eastern Tennessee in the 12 years we’ve lived there.
“My TN friends complain about 1) messycan mongrels and 2) liberals invading The Volunteer State.”
No “messycan mongrels” newcomers that we’ve noticed here. There are Mexicans, but are long-time residents. Haven’t met any liberals who are newcomers, although we’ve met some over the years.
Honestly, we’re surprised and expected the absolute worst.
We moved from CA to the Nashville area 9 years ago. I tell my friends who are still in CA that folks in Tennessee don’t mind Californians moving here, as long as they’re the *right* Californians!
Awfully defensive, aren't you?
Nobody called you a liar. You're naive.
And you are wrong and rude. There ARE a lot of conservatives fleeing California!
Yeah; and there are a lot of us still stuck here because we don’t have a million dollar home to sell or a 500k job to pad our bank accounts.
There are a LOT of California conservatives still here, we just happened to be outnumbered by the shithole cities of Sacrashito, San Franfago, San (gangbang) Jose, Lost Angeles, San Wetbackadino, etc.
trust me we would leave if we could afford it!
Houses are much cheaper in Texas and I’m sure Tennessee, and probably many other red states than they are in CA, so that part would work to your advantage!
Yes Idaho...Sorry moderates, but you aren’t not right enough.
Moron Libertarians? Really? Why the hate towards Libertarians? I’m more trusting of them than Democrats. Yes, some of their views are crazy, but not as crazy as Democrats...
They are an abomination. Just because they aren't democRATs does not make them conservative.
