On abortion, a softer approach to changing hearts and minds

Years ago, I visited a privately-funded facility in Marin County that counseled pregnant women about their choices and offered emotional and financial support as well as prenatal and postpartum care to those who chose life over abortion. The individuals working at this facility understood that winning the legal and political game around abortion was unlikely, so they set out to win the hearts and minds of the ultimate stakeholders—moms and their unborn kin. Theirs was a labor of love.

Overruling Roe, which I wholeheartedly celebrate and is the best and only pro-democracy solution to our abortion pangs, rightfully moves the abortion debate to the states. But it doesn’t end there. Once overturned, some states will ban all abortions; some will encourage them to the point of infanticide; most will enact moderate positions with reasonable limitations; and sanctuary states like New York or California will accommodate out-of-state abortions facilitated and funded by abortion enthusiasts.

The sobering reality is that the debate will rage on as abortion remains a viable option for unwanted pregnancies. It will not go gentle into that good night.

Because emotions are so high about this issue, while toiling with this article, I was reassured when pro-lifer Sean Hannity (at about 4:50) echoed the same sentiments. As upsetting as it might be, conservatives must be clear-eyed to move forward.

Sean Hannity is mentioned in this article and Sean just trashed a Conservative candidate here in Pennsylvania.

The Supreme Court is making a Moderate decision it appears in the end that the Democrat machine wants to dramatize as Conservative for higher voter turnout this fall.

Abortion will still be legal in the states that choose to keep it legal.

In the bigger picture, the Left is extremely vulnerable in the middle ground.

In fact, their goals of "creating chaos" and "dividing" are obliterated when conservatives and sensible people, in general, understand this and move to take the center.

The danger here is that negotiating this territory requires very clever interaction with Leftists. Concessions to Leftists of any kind can be deadly because they are completely dishonest.

“Concessions to Leftists of any kind can be deadly because they are completely dishonest.”

Yup. Sociopaths continually move the goalposts once they get a confession.

” Abortion will still be legal in the states that choose to keep it legal.”

Throwing the decision back to the states will also be helpful in distinguishing between RHINOs and real conservatives. They will be forced to declare their side (pro life or pro baby murder) and not be able to hide behind Roe anymore

We’ve tried this “softer” approach of dealing other issues in the past and failed miserably. Those on the Left simply don’t respond to *nice.

Having ongoing debates about abortion laws in all 50 states will be a perpetual benefit for conservatives. The most vocal and dominant leftists in the Democrat Party will demand unrestricted, publicly-funded abortion up until the moment of birth in every state. So-called “moderate” Democrats will have a hard time getting nominated unless they embrace pro-abortion extremism. In purple states or districts pro-life Republicans will have the advantage over extreme pro-abortion Democrats.
