In his recent visit to the Ladakh sector, Army chief Gen Manoj Pande reviewed the security situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in view of the Chinese threat for which the Indian Army has shifted six Divisions which were earlier deployed in counter-terrorism roles and after taking care of Pakistan front.

The military standoff with China has been going on for over two years now when the Chinese side attempted to change the status quo unilaterally by moving troops in large numbers against Indian positions.

The Indian Army has been doing rebalancing and realignment of its forces which were earlier more prepared for the Pakistan threat than the challenges faced from the Northern borders.

Senior government sources told ANI that after this rebalancing and realignment exercise was done over the last two years, two divisions (around 35,000 troops) have been feeding up from counter-terrorism roles for looking after the China border deployment.

One division from Rashtriya Rifles was taken out from counter-terrorism roles from Jammu and Kashmir and has now been deployed in the Eastern Ladakh sector and would be there along with the 3 Division already based there, they said.

Xi has an “election” coming up shortly. He has accumulated a huge number of failures. The problem with having “ultimate” power is that he has ultimate responsibility for failures. One of Xi’s problems is he gives the levers of power an input and waits for a response to see what happened and his minions give him a thumb’s up regardless of what happens. Thus, you end up with power rationing as apparently Xi didn’t know there was an electrical power problem until he saw it on the news. Here he is with that election coming up, no accomplishments and he looks at the map thinking, “You know, I could just salami slice another bit off here and here and present that as an accomplishment.” Meanwhile India is thinking, “maybe not.”

Like Momar Kadafi (sp) Xi has put Pakistanis in critical positions. Not that Kadafi used Pakistanis, but he did use foreigners. Foreigners are just paid mercenaries with no oar in the local political waters. People like Xi, Putin, Hitler, Stalin are really, really good at survival. After a while power survival becomes your paramount concern. Not governance. Not popularity. Just survival. And, like the others of his ilk, he’s good at it.

Worse terrain for fighting than the Italian front in WW I.
