The word “was” is used here a lot. I’m wondering if the shooter in this case didn’t write this. On top of that this does not look like something an 18 year old would write.

Yes, but death was a definite possibility. These situations are chaotic and virtually
impossible to control, no matter the planning. Survival was a better alternative to death in order
to further spread my ideals by media coverage and to deplete resources from the state by my own
imprisonment.
It’s already been established he copy-pasted big chunks of his “manifesto” from the screed written by the Christchurch shooter (New Zealand mosque shooter). He also allegedly admired Dylann Roof, the neo-Nazi kid who shot up the black church in Charleston in 2015. He probably copy-pasted more chunks from garbage he found on 4chan, where he got into this sick obsession.
