If they did nothing at all, there wouldn't be "these cases." So how about they STOP cultivating and deploying mass shooters (example = Garland), and STOP being agent provocateurs furiously trying to sabotage patriots (example = Jan 6)?
The people who sabotaged Jan 6 were the idiots who got out of hand and started rioting. They are no better than violent leftists and their stupidity has harmed the Conservative movement immeasurably. It was one of the stupidest political actions I have ever seen. It accomplished nothing but strengthening our opponents.
I am upset about the whole Jan 6th thing because of the double standard that it represents and the hyperbolic nature of how it was all treated in the media who used terms that people were NEVER charged with.
I also disagree vehemently with the detention of the folks from Jan 6th - almost all of them had NO criminal history.
However, my point stands. If they receive a “tip” about a person who is unhinged or says threatening things but no crime was committed there is little that they can legally do. I would guess it is a huge number of people who are “reported” but only a small handful of them go on to commit violence towards others. The outcry if they “locked them all up” would be legion. The resources required to monitor them all would be massive - police state level far beyond what we see now.
That was my point. I have plenty of criticism of them, but as long as they are sharing “tips” with local law enforcement and mental health absent an actual crime what else can they do? I know several people who might be described as a bit unhinged but they seem to function in society in their own way but how do you know which one will snap?
