House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) slammed the arrest of a Catholic cardinal in Hong Kong, calling it “one of the clearest signs yet of Beijing’s worsening crackdown” in an op-ed published Friday in The Washington Post.
Cardinal Joseph Zen and four other people were arrested earlier this week by national security police in Hong Kong but were later released on bail amid continuing arrest operations, the Post reported.

We all can’t stand Pelosi but she is stating what Kevin McCarthy should’ve stated two days ago. And 82-year-old alcoholic has managed to upstage Kevin McCarthy time and time again. We can all jump on her bones but she’s out in front of this issue way before Kevin McCarthy. She owns him and he is slower than shit. When have we ever seen Kevin McCarthy out in front of an issue? When have we ever seen his face on an issue. It’s a freaking invisible man in this 82-year-old alcoholic has more political savvy in her left tit that he has in his whole body!

I expect the Chinese to be the Chinese. I don’t expect supposedly “free and tolerant societies” to follow their lead.
Russia, China, Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and a host of other failed states I expect these headlines. I’m sick of reading about cops pastors to jail for disobeying the stupidest of edicts while Nanzi and Brandon—who wear their Catholicism on their sleeve—are silent on these abuses and others. They wring their hands and cluck about every other citizen but their own.
I love it when Nanzi and Brandon try to quote the Bible. It rings so hollow and phony. I wouldn’t trust them to lead me out of a burning building. I’ll take my chances with the window.
But to your point. Yes. The GOP should be standing up to these abuses, too. If their silence betrays their indifference, the best that can be said for them is that they aren’t being hypocrites about it.
