Your article just shows us all one more example of Russian imperialism. As the article states Russia invaded one of its neighbors to get more land in 1939. Just like they are trying to do now in Ukraine.
But there was no NATO in 1939, so Russia has already shown that they will invade one of their neighbors regardless of whether or not that neighbor happens to be in a defensive alliance with its neighbors.
