Former Black Panther who killed NJ cop nearly 50 years ago paroled by state court

A former Black Panther who was convicted of murdering a New Jersey State trooper 49 years ago will soon be sprung on parole.

New Jersey Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled 3-2 to allow 85-year-old Sundiata Acoli, the Black Liberation Army activist who killed Trooper Werner Foerster in 1973, to go free.

Acoli had appeared before the parole board eight times since 1993 — when he became eligible for parole on his lifetime prison sentence.

“In light of Acoli’s verbal renunciation of violence as an acceptable way to achieve social change; more than two decades infraction-free in the federal prison system; the multitude of programs and counseling sessions he completed; his honor status as an inmate; his acquisition of vocational skills; and his advanced age, it is difficult to imagine what else might have persuaded the board that Acoli did not present a substantial likelihood to reoffend,” wrote Justice Barry Albin in the ruling.

He added there was no “substantial credible evidence” that Acoli posed a risk to the public as the parole board had previously ruled in denying his release.

Parole should be eliminated!

Do the crime, do the time.

Parole is about the NONSENSE of “rehabilitation”. NO ONE, not even liberals, believe that rehabilitation happens in prison.

If they did, letting the inmates COMPLETE their sentences would mean they are even MORE “rehabilitated”.

Faucetman’s prisons would be individual cells for each inmate.

Inmates would stay in their cells 24/7/365 EXCEPT on leap years where it would be 24/7/366.

Food delivered to each cell by NON INMATES. No more chow hall riots or shankings.

Exercise would take place in each cell by each inmate by themselves. Pull up bars could be installed or they could do push ups, deep knee bends, running in place, squat thrusts, etc. They can be done as long as the inmate desires. Not just one lousy hour per day.

Showers to be installed in every cell. No more shower room rapes, beatings, or murders.

I would allow lap tops with censored Internet for communication and something to spend the time that they have so much of.

Those inmates that go buggy because they are in their cells 24/7 should be moved to solitary confinement (ALL privileges revoked) to see what they should have been thankful for in their own cells.

Other problems may pop up, but I am sure they can all be solved.

By keeping all inmates in their own individual cells SOLVES so many other problems that any new issues would be insignificant by comparison.

The number of guards (YES THEY ARE GUARDS) could be greatly reduced.

Jobs would be created where inmates used to do the work (food, laundry, license plates, etc.)

“Cruel and unusual punishment is a phrase in common law describing punishment that is considered unacceptable due to the suffering, pain, or humiliation it inflicts on the person subjected to the sanction.”

No “suffering, pain, or humiliation” by being in their own cells.

It would be like a motel room.

For lifers it would be like Hotel California “You can check out, but you can never leave”.

He will probably catch a bus down to Mexico and live out what’s left of his life in Zihuatanejo.

He is going to be too old to work so will either become wealthy via the media/NGO's or be on welfare and/or Social Security.

I suspect he will remain a drag on society.

I believe lawsuits have already been filed and won on that issue. Not letting inmates roam free to socialize and kill each other has been deemed cruel and unusual punishment by the courts.

I remember reading years ago that the likelihood of execution is increased if the person is poor, white and southern.
