Finland's leaders on Thursday said the country would apply to join NATO "without delay."
"Finland must apply for NATO membership without delay," President Sauli Niinistö and Prime Minister Sanna Marin said in a joint statement. "We hope that the national steps still needed to make this decision will be taken rapidly within the next few days."
Leaders in both Sweden and Finland had been expected to announce their positions on joining NATO this week, as the war in Ukraine continues to have unintended consequences for Russia by potentially pushing two more of its neighbors to the transatlantic alliance.
Finland’s decision to apply for NATO membership is a threat to the Kremlin, Dmitry Peskov, Russia's presidential press secretary, said on Thursday.

Regardless, I am posting a link to a Dutch analyst recorded before the war began and he’s predicting a war is likely because Russia is trying to establish a new security order in Europe. In this new one Russia gets its way. Analysts predicting that there won’t be a war are analyzing the situation based on going back to the old security order as it existed before Russia began this move several years ago. Russia won’t go back to the old order because they’ve been there and that’s not what they want. It’s a prescient piece and describes the shape of the world Russia is trying to create.

There are some mighty long memories in that part of the world. And the Finns just agree to buy a bunch of F-35s. The Russian army of 2022 is definitely not the Soviet army of the 1940s.
While the Finns would take a beating they’d give Russia more than a bloody nose. And given the Russian experience in Ukraine I seriously doubt Putin could wage a 2 front war. His entire military would collapse.
