Ukraine makes gains near Kharkiv +++ Attacks on Russian soil | Ukraine latest

A thousand bodies have been recovered near the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, in recent days, with many of the killings possibly amounting to war crimes amid the Russian invasion, according to United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet. "The scale of unlawful killings, including indicia of summary executions in areas to the north of Kyiv, is shocking," Bachelet told the Geneva-based Human Rights Council via video link.

The council will decide on Thursday whether to launch an official probe into events that occurred in Kyiv and other regions in February and March while Russian troops were occupying the areas. Russia has denied targeting civilians during what it calls a "special military operation" in Ukraine aimed only at "de-militarizing" and "de-Nazifying" the country.

Russian energy giant Gazprom says gas to Europe transiting through Ukraine went down by a third on Thursday. Gazprom told the Interfax news agency that supplies transiting Ukraine were at 50.6 million cubic meters in total, compared to 72 million cubic meters the day before. This comes after Kyiv said it would suspend flows of Russian gas through the eastern Sokhranivka hub on Wednesday on grounds the plant was no longer under Ukrainian control.

Ukraine has succeeded in recapturing a number of towns and villages toward the Russian border north of its second city of Kharkiv after Moscow has reportedly withdrawn several units following heavy losses, the British Ministry of Defence has said.

The current focus of Russian troops on the eastern Donbas regions means that remaining units deployed in the Kharkiv region are "vulnerable to the mobile, and highly motivated, Ukrainian counterattacking force," according to the intelligence update posted on Twitter. "The withdrawal of Russian forces from the Kharkiv Oblast is a tacit recognition of Russia’s inability to capture key Ukrainian cities where they expected limited resistance from the population," it says. It said the Russian troops would "likely deploy to the eastern bank of the Siverskyi Donets River, forming a blocking force to protect the western flank of Russia’s main force concentration and main supply routes for operations in the vicinity of Izium."

Kharkiv, situated just 40 km (25 miles) south of the border to Russia, was an early focus of Moscow's invasion of Ukraine and suffered relentless shelling for a month. Artillery attacks have, however, now reportedly become rarer as Russian troops seem to be pulling out.

I just made this map, the idea coming from Defense Politics Asia's "Tuarida" video.

The historic core of Ukraine is just above the Dnepr River, no way is Russia going there. Odessa and Kharkiv are doubtful. Russian withdrawal around Kharkiv indicates they are not going to try to take that region.

If Russia isn't going to try to take Kharkiv, odds are they won't try for Odessa either, but Odessa might be a higher priority, in order to take the entire Black Sea coast. The Odessa region might then be a bargaining chip in future negotiations, that is, the return of Odessa to Ukraine might be traded for Ukraine's agreement to cede Luhansk, Donetsk, "Tuarida" and Crimea to Russia.

Russia maximum goal: All of yellow shaded area, plus Odessa, complete control of the Black Sea coast.

Russian minimum goal: All of yellow shaded area, complete control of Donesk, Luhansk, "Tuarida" and Crimea. Complete control of the mouth of the Dnepr River, possibly some of the north bank.

This is not a war between Ukraine and Russia, nor is it even a proxy war between the US and Russia. It is a breathtaking war between the Great Reset and the Great Awakening.

May the side of Good, God and Right be victorious.

NCSWIC. Nothing!

“...unlawful killings...”

You mean like all the woman and children on the commuter train that was bombed by US hellfire missiles (on the order on Bill Clinton)?

Please. Spare me the sanctimonious lectures until the Sink Emperor is in jail for war crimes.

“Attacks on Russian soil”

They’re saying that the goal here is to make a Flying Tiger type of ‘assault’ on Russian territory in the hope of goading Russia into using tactical nukes.

At that point, it will be ‘Mission Accomplished’ for the Neocons and they can FINALLY send NATO troops into the war in Ukraine.

...but I doubt the Russians will fall for it.

“They fled. The American louts fled. Indeed, concerning the fighting waged by the heroes of the Arab Socialist Baath Party yesterday, one amazing thing really is the cowardice of the American soldiers. we had not anticipated this.”

The NATO bombing of Serbia was 1999 just before I joined here. 1995 was still part of the Serbian offensive in the Balkans which led to the NATO bombing which led to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

War begets war. In any case somebody needs to fix that graphic.

But it's okay when America invades a sovereign country, (even if we have to lie about WMDs to do it), because our motives are always really, really good and pure!

Not like those evil Russkies!

you say “Russian withdrawal around Kharkiv indicates they are not going to try to take that region.”

Can you spot the logical fallacy in your comment?

A great deal of this event revolves around the Holodomor era (1932-1933), where mass starvation occurred (figure a minimum of 3.5-million Ukrainians died).

The general story (historians argue) is that prior to the Soviet era....’old’ Ukraine had agreed to private land ownership, and as the 1920s came along with Lenin and the 1930s with Stalin...Ukrainian farmers didn’t agree to centralized farm practices. Stalin sent in his KGB guys to enforce the crops all leaving the country.

Losing two harvest years got their attention, with the millions dead. Pure genocide. So when the Nazis arrived and said they hated Soviets, most Ukrainians saw them as ‘friends’.

This labeled Ukraine over the decades to be categorized by the Moscow leadership and often suggest Nazis everywhere. Based on propaganda (you always need to blame someone else)...Putin came back around to this ‘gotta-fix-this’ moment as a legacy-defining moment.

Six months ago, as this plan was being developed...I would suggest that he felt statues would be erected to him once the ‘operation’ was concluded, the Nazis eradicated, and everyone participating was given a medal.

In the end, he’s created a GDP problem that will linger for two decades minimum, a serious loss of equipment which requires all Russians to sacrifice public funds to the extreme to rebuild, and triggered everyone in NATO to fixate themselves on 2-percent or more of their yearly goal for military hardware.

Putin is old KGB & will eliminate by assassination anyone, anywhere for his convenience. January 21, 2016,
Vladimir Putin was furious when one of his former spies, Alexander Litvinenko, publicly called him a pedophile in 2006 — a slur that likely spurred the Russian leader to order the dissident’s assassination in London four months later.

Litvinenko, who had lived under asylum in Britain since 2000, after defecting from the FSB — the KGB’s successor agency — had ignited Putin’s outrage by claiming on a Russian-language Web site that the spy agency once possessed videotapes showing Putin “making sex with some underage boys.”

The dissident also recounted in his article Putin’s creepy behavior in one incident in 2006. As news cameras rolled in a tourist-crammed public square near the Kremlin, Putin lifted the shirt of a little boy and kissed him on the bare belly, explaining later, “I wanted to cuddle him like a kitten, and it came out in this gesture.”

“Nobody can understand why the Russian president did such a strange thing as kissing the stomach of an unfamiliar small boy,” Litvinenko noted in the article.

Putin is a liar.

The very definition of “LIE” is a FALSE statement made with DELIBERATE INTENT TO DECEIVE: an INTENTIONAL UNTRUTH

Putin’s use of KGB tactics, especially known use on social media, with DELIBERATE ATTEMPTS to use SELECTIVE UNTRUTHS to persuade for his agenda.

Satan is not only the “father of lies, but of those who suppress the truth.” John 8:44;

“When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies.” Revelation 12:9 ESV

You obviously subscribe to NCSWIC: NOTHING CAN STOP WHAT IS COMING. TrustTheQ is subversive. Juxtaposing NCSWIC with Putin is very revealing! Both Q/Anon & Putin use the tools to obfuscate & deceive.

The promotion of Putin becomes the unfortunate legacy for the people of the Russia Federation to be: feared, distrusted and disgusted by the larger world for its policies based on lies, assassinations, and unpredictability.

-Putin has shown Russia can violate the human rights of its citizens and others without serious consequences.

-Putin want to be a lifetime ruler, prolonging the deadlock indefinitely. Moscow is trying to create a way for Putin to rule until 2036.

PUTIN-ISM has NOTHING POSITIVE to offer to the world except threats, disinformation, and disruption.

Scripture descriptive of Putin is John 8:44:
“You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

You are correct.

Lost credibility of Putin!

“When it comes to Ukraine, Mr. Putin seems to have constructed a Potemkin village in his own mind, deluding himself that Russian-speaking, southeastern Ukraine, home to millions of ethnic Russians, yearned to be part of the Motherland again.

What Mr. Putin failed to recognize is that 30 years of independence had gradually engendered a sense of nationhood among Ukrainians. People realized that they enjoyed far greater freedoms in Ukraine, despite Ukrainian gov’t dealing with remaining Putin-deep state corruption left, than living under the oppressive autocracy that Mr. Putin sought to impose.

**In the late 18th century, when Catherine the Great toured the same newly conquered lands of Novorossiya, with the phrase “Potemkin village” was born to describe the facades erected by one of her generals to conceal the region’s grinding poverty and backwardness.
