Biden making good on his commitment to shut down fossil fuel. At the expense of every American. Well done Democrats.

Guys,

The Cook Inlet oil fields were discovered and first drilled in the 1960s. It produced about 80M barrels of oil. Not per day. Decade(s). The lifetime of the fields.

There is no industry interest because it is a known, fully seismic and drill explored, fully exploited area and the industry says . . . that train left the station. It’s been drained. There are something like 30 wells producing a slow flow, driven by XX injection wells to keep pressure up. There are I dunno, about 10 wells capped and abandoned. You C&A when you realize it’s empty.

The world of the left wing hates the concept of Peak Oil (Peak Oil is the concept that all oil wells produce, raise production, reach a peak, and then decline. Fields do the same (unless you redefine the field and declare it is more area than before).) The left is generally confident this is some BS conservative politics concept to get America to frantically drill for oil and rape Mother Gaia.

The world of the right wing hates the Peak Oil concept because it suggests scarcity exists that price cannot undo. There are also religious overtones in that there is rejection of the concept that God would present us with an impossible problem.

So . . . bipartisan hatred. And it doesn’t matter. Geology has no interest in politics and oil isn’t infinite. Wells do go empty. Fields do go empty. If you think this is insane BS, get out your checkbook and buy those C&A wells and get them to produce oil. The price will be cheap.

Industry can say no to those leases for reasons completely independent of politics. That IS possible.
