Good grief!
You insult real liberals (even though they have disappeared as a political and philosophical entity) by referring to proud communists as either liberals or democrats...
I'm old enough to remember what & who real liberals were... Almost to a man, they were patriotic Americans who did not hold with 90% of what the communists, who now rule us completely, believe and have instituted...
Your statement is an insult to those Americans no longer with us...
God Bless You, Joe Manchin!
How about that lying sack of poo from Pennsylvania who purports to be pro life?
Agree on Blackmun. He had a black heart.
So glad to have picketed him, back in the day.
Including that insufferable POS, Bob Casey Jr., who pretends to be a Catholic.
Was this a cloutre vote or a straight up and down vote on the merits?
Are you though? Now they can vote for all kinds of socialist garbage and can say - see, see we blocked the abortion rights bill.....we’re “severely conservative. “
bttt
If the bill had been written to only cover first trimester it would have passed with Manchin, Collins and Murkowski.
But they intentionally wrote it so it would fail and keep the issue alive for fundraising
Probably.
Democratic Congressmen are the most devious people in the world.
Passing a federal bill into law won't enshrine abortion rights with constitutional righteousness. IOW, it would be dragged through the courts again. To move beyond that it would have to be a constitutional amendment, which ain't gonna happen.
Then why vote today? And why celebrate it getting barely voted down?
Right.
Some were saying the Republicans “failed” to filibuster this and risked allowing it to pass - that was not correct - this was - in fact - a cloture vote.
The spin that the “bill failed to pass a Republican filibuster” doesn’t hold water now - it would have failed regardless.
All of the Democrats, save one, are now on record as supporting abortion up to the moment of birth with no exceptions or restrictions, forcing religious medical facilities to perform them, etc. All Senators are indeed “on record” as Schumer wanted - the GOP should take this extremism right to them. Let’s have this debate - as this is a 70/30 or even 80/20 issue against the Democrats.
Yes, they did. But they didn’t even get 50.
Not if we’re successful in November.
And if we are successful, maybe the Dims will begin to see that killing babies is not a good thing on which to run.
It will take a lot of work, that’s the message I believe we should stress.
Notice how the word “baby” is like the f word to the Left.
We have to change that.
The vote was 49-51. Manchin did oppose it.
I don't see why everyone is celebrating. If this bill only lost by one vote today, it seems like eventually it will pass. That means there the nation will have even more extreme laws than under Roe.
They needed 60 votes. They only got 49.
And now every Democrat save one is on record as supporting this extremism.
They will keep trying.
Glad we stopped this one though.
November is one election. Are you sure Democrats will never gain more than 50 for the rest of time?
OMG, Nick...Don’t we have enough to worry about...
The future can change in a minute. You can plan, but you cannot plan that far ahead.
I apologize, those are the thoughts that keep me sane. Perhaps you should find your mental reassurance and dwell on it when you get upset too far in advance.
You seem lake such a nice person. Keep thinking about that.
I’m sorry, I don’t mean to be doom and gloom, but I feel in the last 25 years the Republicans have disappointed me at every turn.
