Republican Kentucky Attorney General Daniel Cameron filed paperwork Wednesday to enter the state’s 2023 governor’s race, hoping to ride his resistance to Democratic Gov. Andy Beshear’s coronavirus restrictions into the governor’s office.

Cameron, seen as a rising GOP star, made history in 2019 as the first African American to serve as the state’s attorney general. Now he’s trying to blaze another trail in his bid for governor.

The rats stole the KY Governors race. Time to fix it.

I’ll vote for him if I’m still a KY resident. I met his wife at a pro-life rally and she seems to be a good Christian woman.

Residency never is an issue for Dems.

I dunno. A bit young(37) and being black he’s on the fast-track. We don’t have enough blacks in executive positions(neither do democrats). I would like to see the left have a cow if he were to be nominated to SCOTUS under a GOP WH. The senate’s out there too as the turtle ages. One term as Atty. general would suggest he’s too ambitious but what do I know?

Um, no. Matt Bevin spent his four years in Frankfort ticking off most of the population of Kentucky. If he hadn’t been so personally toxic he would have won like all of the down ballot Republicans.

I believe has worked for Mitch, and Mitch is actively promoting his career. If he wins, I believe Mitch will step down and Cameron will appoint himself to replace Mitch.

Cameron will appoint himself to replace Mitch.

He won’t do anything that Murkowski-esque. It would be political suicide for any Republican in the lower 48.

But we do need to get hold of the KY guv seat before Cocaine Mitch keels over. The man looks like death warmed over…

Beshear, fortunately, has been stripped of his power to appoint a Demonrat to Mitch’s seat if he resigns or dies.

That’s not an attack that can be used against him in a general election since that is the same thing Andy Beshear did.
