Finland will formally announce their application today, and Sweden within days. Both the US and UK have given assurances that they will defend them if Russia attacks while their applications are being processed.
US and NATO forces have already taken up positions along the Russian border in Finland. If Russia wants to attack Finland at this point they are going to war with NATO.
Also, Google is now publishing high resolution imagery of Russian bases along with military-accurate GPS coordinates.
